Advisory committee adds 12

Appointing members to the mental-health advisory committee is a “milestone,” according to the Mental Health Coalition.

Yesterday, the province named 12 people — health experts, researchers, mental-health clinicians and people affected by mental illness — to Nova Scotia’s Mental Health Strategy Advisory Committee.

Co-chairs Michael Unger and Joyce McDonald were previously announced.

“This truly is a milestone day for mental health in Nova Scotia,” Gail Gardiner with the coalition said in a release.

“We have been waiting for all the members of the Oversight Committee to be named since it was first announced by the Minister on June 1.”
