After Jets win, happy days here again for Patriots

Tom Brady certainly has a way with words.

A day after a decisive 37-16 victory over a huge — and hated — division rival, Tom Brady was in a pretty chipper mood. In fact, he called the Patriots’ Sunday night win “pretty sweet.”

“It’s definitely a different feeling when you win,” Brady told WEEI radio. “We got off the field last night, and just to walk into the locker room and celebrate with the guys, really after a tough couple of weeks for us, even battling a very good team last night under some tough conditions, with their home stadium. It was pretty sweet.”

With the win, the Pats are a full game up on both the Jets and Bills in the AFC East standings. It was also victory No. 117 for Brady and Bill Belichick collectively, which set a new record for a coach-quarterback tandem.

“There’s no [other] coach I’d ever want to play for,” Brady said. “He gets us prepared every week. There’s so many things I learned from him over the years about mental toughness.”

The Patriots seemingly control their own destiny moving forward. As long as they take care of business and win the games on their schedule, they’ll earn another division crown. Even Belichick was in a happier frame of mind, as evidenced by his decision to give players off until Wednesday.

“It’s pretty exciting. It doesn’t happen very often,” Brady said.
