Alberta government vows to fight recession

Alberta’s government has vowed to build, build, build to fight a global economic recession that has forced many companies to scale back by cutting hundreds of jobs.

In his speech from the throne Tuesday, Lt.-Gov. Norman Kwong said the government will make new infastrucure investments to hospitals, schools and public structures to “strengthen communities and help municipalities address growth pressure.”

“In today’s economic environment, now more than ever, this means investing strategically and building responsibility,” said Kwong.
