Alleged drug smuggler ‘busting out of his pants’ nabbed at JFK

Authorities seized 10 pounds of cocaine worthmore than $164,000 on the street after nabbing a man with “rather snug” pants at a New York airport, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol announced on Friday.

Juan Carlos Galan Luperonreturned to New York from the Dominican Republic on March 4. He landed in John F. Kennedy International Airport and was“busting out of his pants,” according to Customs. Authorities pulled GalanLuperon aside, but not because he was profiled as a hipster.

Galan Luperon”exhibited numerous signs of nervousness and his pants appeared to be rather snug,” according to Customs.

During a search, authoritiesfound packages taped to the U.S. citizen’s legs filled with a white powder that was later determined to be cocaine – about 10 pounds of it.

Taping is a common concealment method employed by smugglers.

Customs arrested Galan Luperon and turned him over toHomeland Security Investigations. The suspectfacesfederal narcotics smuggling charges and will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the U.S. Eastern District Court of New York.
