Alleged gang member shot at

A notorious Abbotsford man with alleged ties to the Red Scorpions gang was nearly killed in a drive-by shooting at a busy Abbotsford intersection.

Police have yet to confirm the identity of the targeted man, but according to media reports the victim is 23-year-old Jamie Bacon, the younger brother of Jonathan and Jarrod Bacon — both of whom are also well known to police.

Const. Casey Vinet said the man was wearing body armour when gunmen opened fire on his Mercedes.

The man, who was unharmed, then crashed the bullet-riddled car into concrete stairs in front of a restaurant and ran off. Jamie and his brother Jarrod are currently facing 24 firearms and drug charges.

In 2006, Jonathan was nearly killed in a shooting outside his family’s home.
