Alleged serial bank robbers nabbed on T

Three people were arraigned Thursday for their alleged roles in the recent robbery and attempted robbery of several banks.

Brandon Wood, 31, of Pittsfield, William Curtin, 26, of Dedham, and Brenda Santos, 22, who said she is homeless, pleaded not guilty. Wood and Curtain were ordered held on cash bail, and Santos was sent to Pittsfield to answer to a warrant.

Police were called to the Blue Hills Bank and Brookline Bank Wednesday for reports of suspicious activity. The managers at the banks reported to police that a man was seen loitering around their locale and left when approached by employees offering assistance.

Witnesses said the suspects boarded Green Line trains, which were stopped by police.

Wood and Curtin were questioned. Wood was found to have a warrant for his arrest.

Police were alerted that the men fit a description for suspects wanted for robbing the Eastern Bank in the Back Bay on Monday. In that incident, a man passed a note to a teller and demanded cash.

Pittsfield police also alerted Brookline officers that Wood and Santos were wanted for a bank robbery in that town.

Detectives later learned that the group was registered at the Holiday Inn in Brookline. They found Santos there.

The room was in “disarray” with a syringe on top of a dresser, according to a police report.
