The alleged serial rapist from Southbridge who triggered a multi-state manhunt was ordered held without bail at Worcester Superior Court on Monday.

Gregory J. Lewis, 26, pleaded not guilty to 17 charges. He is alleged to have raped a 13-year-old girl, before fleeing the state as that court case was proceeding. While on the lam, he is alleged to have sexually assaulted, beaten and robbed several escorts in multiple states.

Lewis was arrested last week after he tried to flee authorities and crashed his car into a river in Fort Edward, New York, a small community on the Hudson River located near the Vermont border.

His crime spree allegedly included rapes, kidnappings and robberies of female escorts in North Carolina, Colorado, and Oregon and an alleged armed robbery of an escort in Indianapolis.

Lewis is alleged to have:

Cut off his GPS monitoring ankle bracelet and threw it onto the front yard of his Southbridge rape victim.

Attacked a family member, handcuffed them, then stolen a gun, 200 rounds of ammunition and cash before fleeing.

Committed at least six sexual assaults in various states since he fled Massachusetts in September.

Police say Lewis would arrange to meet escorts at local hotels, then handcuff, threaten, rob and sexually assault them.
