Allen close to mark, but C’s fall

Ray Allen moved within one 3-pointer of the all-time record last night. But it wasn’t enough to lift the Celtics to a victory in Charlotte.

The Bobcats rallied late to stun Boston, 94-89.

Allen, who entered the game trailing record-holder Reggie Miller by three 3-pointers on the career list, hit two. He’ll get a chance to tie the mark Thursday against the Lakers.

The C’s shooting star led all scorers with 23 points. Paul Pierce chipped in with 16 in the losing effort, and Rajon Rondo netted another double-double.
