Americans love their country, not their jobs

Americans are committed to the country — even more than their family. A joint Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that Americans put the nation first, then family, followed by their doctors.

“The most surprising thing was that country, which is more abstract, was No. 1, ahead of your family or spouse,” said Timothy Keiningham, the author of the poll and a co-author of the book, “Why Loyalty Matters.”

Seventy percent of the survey’s respondents said they’re more loyal to the country now as opposed to two years ago.

Meanwhile, those in the poll aren’t so enamored with their employers. Only 55 percent said they would stay at their current job and turn down a higher paying offer elsewhere.

“Employers have real issues,” Keiningham said.

More Americans are committed to their favorite soda than their company, according to the report from Reuters and the market research firm.
