And the Turning Point contest winner is…

“I’m so happy! Someone said to me the other day that I look like a kid in a candy store.”

Lisa Airst can’t control the happiness she feels after winning our TurningPoint, New You Makeover Contest.

It’s been a tough few years for Lisa, but now her life has reached a turning point — for the better.

Lisa worked in public relations for the non-profit sector before she was laid off in 2007. Going back to school, she had just finished a program to become a social service worker when she received bad news from her doctor. She had breast cancer. Her career makeover was put on hold as Lisa fought the disease with chemo, surgery and radiation. Now, one year later Lisa says she is doing fine and is ready to go back to work.

“Breast cancer has made me live life to its fullest and enjoy every moment. I plan on being more confident, secure and sure of what I want and how to get it.”

Lisa recently stopped by the Metro office to pick up all her wonderful prizes and meet editor-in-chief Charlotte Empey. Then she made the trek to Princess Margaret Hospital for a followup appointment. She spoke to the receptionist on the way in and told her about winning the contest. “You know, this is just the beginning,” the receptionist told her.

Yes it is, Lisa. This is the beginning of a new chapter in your life and a turning point filled with optimism and wonderful opportunities. We’ll be following Lisa’s career transformation in the months to come. Thanks to NexCareer, ebranders, WIND Mobile, Tech Direct, Danier, Sharma International and Donato Salon and Spa, she is off to an amazing start.
