The so-called Upper East Side Madam Anna Gristina reported Tuesday morning to serve her sentence — but only spent about 45 minutes in custody.
Gristina pleaded guilty in September to a felony, promoting prostitution, after a sting operation revealed an elaborate brothel run out of an East 78th Street apartment. In exchange for her plea, she was sentenced to time served in state Supreme Court, which resulted in less than an hour behind bars Tuesday.
After she was released, Gristina and her attorney, Norman Pattis, went in front of reporters to fire back against the district attorney’s comment that she is a “pimp.”
“There is nothing glamorous about prostitution,” Manhattan district attorney’s office spokeswoman Erin Duggan had said. “Anna Gristina rented women’s bodies for profit, which makes her a pimp.”
“She pled out to a sting operation by one cop who paid $2,000 of tax payer’s money to watch two women engage in cunnilingus,” Pattis said, according to the New York Post. “So who’s the pimp? Cyrus Vance? Sounds like it to me.”
“The system is more corrupt than the Mafia,” Gristina added.
In court, Gristina declined to make a comment before her sentence was imposed.
“It’s probably better, Your Honor, that I don’t,” she said.
During her stint in Riker’s, Gristina’s family told reporters the mother and wife was forced to wear a diaper in a sweltering, vermin-infested solitary confinement cell.
