Authorities have made an arrest in connection to a Brockton hit-and-run that left a teenage boy hospitalized.

Elias Lebon was injured Monday afternoon after he was struck in Brockton by a driver who fled the scene, WCVB reported, adding that the teen was in serious condition at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Police have now arrested Christopher S. Jansky in connection to the incident, the Enterprise has reported, adding that he was taken into custody at his mother’s house in Abington.

Police initially located the white Kia sedan, rented at Logan Airport, believed to be the vehicle involved in the incident, but the driver had allegedly fled, according to CBS Boston.

Police dusted the car for prints in an effort to identify the driver, WCVB stated.

The hit-and-run happened near the corner of Cross and Winslow streets, and area residents told CBS Boston that drivers use Cross Street as a “raceway.”

“It’s only a matter of time because the children, they play and they run across the street and they don’t pay attention to traffic because they’re children,” Chandra Davis said to CBS Boston. “The adults and people who drive up and down this street should be responsible.”

Jansky has now been charged with leaving the scene of personal injury and driving with a suspended license, the Enterprise added.
