Art gallery sets attendance record during Olympics

A new attendance record has been set at the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) as nearly 100,000 people visited it during the Games.

Lineups snaked around the block as the VAG showcased Leonardo Da Vinci: The Mechanics of Man, marking the first time that all of his drawings of the human body were exhibited together.

“Culture was at the heart of these Olympic Games, and, now more than ever, Vancouver is seen as an international art centre,” said VAG director Kathleen Bartels.

Admission to the VAG was free during the Olympics, and will also be free during the Paralympics March 12-21.
