Associated Cab (Alta.) Ltd will be the cabs of choice at the Calgary International Airport after an agreement was announced today via media release.
The contract will last six years, the release said, and will limit the taxis in the taxi waiting area to those belonging to the Associated cab company.
The Calgary Airport Authority stated that it thoroughly reviewed multiple requests-for-proposal (RFP) before coming to the decision – which will be implemented beginning June 7, 2010.
Taxi from other cabs companies will still be allowed to drop off and pick up pre-arranged passengers from the airport, the release said.
The release also stated that on-demand taxi trips make up less than 10 per cent of the total number of taxi trips in the city of Calgary.
