At least 14 injured, including firefighters, in Brooklyn apartment fire

At least 14 people, including four firefighters, were injured in an early-morning blaze in Borough Park, Brooklyn.

An early-morning fire at a four-story apartment building in Brooklyn left at least 14 injured Monday, FDNY officials said.

The blaze started around 4:30 a.m. in a second-floor kitchen before it quickly spread to the third and fourth floors of 1225 49th Street in Borough Park, Deputy Chief Peter Leicht said, according to NBC4.

Nine victims, including a few children, were rescued from the roof and are in stable condition. One victim who was trapped in a bedroom is in critical condition, and four firefighters were among those who suffered minor injuries, Leicht said.

It took about an hour for a crew of 135 firefighters from 33 units to bring the fire under control, PIX11 reported.
