Auburn teen arrested for threats of school shooting: police

Police arrested an 18-year-old former Auburn High School student Thursday for threatening a shooting in SnapChat videos sent to other students.

Marcus A. Rodriguez of Auburn allegedly sent threatening messages to students, prompting police to respond to the high school around 8 a.m.

“Rodriguez was observed in videos making direct threats of the use of firearms against students at the high school,” police said. Police immediately went to Rodriguez’ residence to arrest him.

No weapons were located on Rodruguez’ person or in his home, but the school was placed into a soft lockdown as a precaution.

Rodriguez is well known to the department as he had been arrested as recently as Wednesday on motor vehicle charges and again on May 23 after causing a disturbance in the police station lobby.

He will be arraigned in the Worcester District Court on charges of threatening to use an explosive or firearm in a school, threatening to commit a murder and disturbing a school assembly.
