Augmented reality coloring book proves kids have it so good these days

A video showing off Disney’s experimental augmented reality coloring book proves kids these days have no idea how good they’ve got it.
The video, which is narrated with some pretty technical language and is pretty boring to listen to, shows off some amazing technology that brings coloring book images to life in 3D.
If you think this was developed because kids love coloring books, you’re wrong. According to Disney, the app was developed because they were looking for ways to motivate kids who were unimpressed by regular ol’ two dimensional coloring.
“Coloring books capture the imagination of children and provide them with one of their earliest opportunities for creative expression. However, given the proliferation and popularity of digital devices, real-world activities like coloring can seem unexciting, and children become less engaged in them,” Disney wrote. “Augmented reality holds unique potential to impact this situation by providing a bridge between real-world activities and digital enhancements”
Kids may have it really good these days, but c’mon. What ever happened to just sitting down and coloring an anthropomorphic elephant that didn’t dance for you?
