Authorities seek to lock up SE home over drug seizures

Less than two weeks after the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods unit shut down a known drug house, they are looking to close the doors on another southeast home.

Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, police searched a home on Foritana Road SE and seized more than $1,000 of cocaine, a digital scale, $670 in cash and nearly 50 grams of marijuana, according to Staff Sgt. Mark Hatchette.

They arrested one man and seized his three small children from the home. Hatchette said the children have since been placed in the custody of social services.

SCAN is now looking to seize the residence, said Hatchette.

“We hope that this is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to shutting down this house for good.”
