Avs pass on Delmas

The Colorado Avalanche have taken a pass on Peter Delmas.

Delmas’ agent, Jean-Pierre Lareau, confirmed the expected news on Thursday, telling Metro the Avalanche are not signing the 20-year-old Halifax Mooseheads goaltender before the NHL’s June 1 deadline for 2008 draft choices.

Delmas, selected 61st overall, struggled with a nagging hip injury in 2009-10 and didn’t live up to expectations after starting the campaign with the Quebec Remparts. He ended up being cast away to the Mooseheads for a sixth-round pick over the holidays. The Bedford native will re-enter the draft but will likely end up back in the QMJHL next season as an over-ager.

His return creates something of a logjam in Halifax with soon-to-be 19-year-old Mathieu Corbeil.
