Bail has been set at $100,000 for the Hyde Park man accused of stabbing three children on Saturday, the Suffolk District Attorney’s office said in a release.

Rock Aurelian, 51, is charged with three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder after he allegedly slashed a 15-year-old girl and two boys, 9 and 11, with a knife. The children were treated with non-life-threatening injuries. He was described in the release as a family friend.

Aurelian was arraigned Monday in West Roxbury Municipal Court. If released, he would be ordered to stay away from the victims and a family member and required to wear a GPS monitor. He is due back in court July 28.

According to the Boston Globe, the attack was reported when blood-soaked children ran down River Street to a neighbor’s house and then to a corner store, screaming for help.

The girl had been stabbed multiple times in the arm. A pool of blood stained the street on the 1600 block of River Street, and a bloody trail lead to a neighbor’s house.

The children were described as confused and in shock. The neighbor dialed 911, but the children were inconsolable and kept screaming that the man might still be after them. The children kept running, and the 12-year-old boy ran down the block to the corner store. According to witnesses, the boy screamed “save my life,” while the other two children remained outside.

A customer called 911 and the three kids were taken to the hospital.

Aurelian admitted his involvement in the attack before a tense exchange inside the Hyde Park home, according to today’s release.

Aurelian “allegedly held his hand behind his back, motioning as though pulling out a weapon and repeatedly yelled at the officer to shoot him,” the release said. “Aurelian continued to come toward the officer, who was able to maintain a safe distance until additional officers arrived on scene and helped subdue Aurelian.”
