Barack Obama approves of the whole Linsanity thing

After sparking the Knicks to a six-game winning streak, point guard Jeremy Lin has started to charm basketball fans outside the New York market — including one very famous ballplayer who lives in Washington.

Yes, President Obama has taken a bold political stance favor of one of the most popular athletes in America right now. From NBC New York:

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama watched highlights Wednesday from the Knicks win over the Raptors.

“It’s a great story and the president was saying as much this morning,” Carney said.

He added that “it’s the kind of sports story that transcends the sport itself.”

Obama would say that, wouldn’t he? Those Harvard types always stick together!

More seriously, though, note that Obama limited himself to a discussion of Lin’s “story.” But what does he think of Lin’s abilities on the court: his pick-and-roll skills, his leadership qualities, his turnover rate? America demands answers, Obama!
