The search for a cure for multiple sclerosis is an uphill battle but three Edmontonians are taking that fight to a much higher level.
Roxanne Gural, Gary Vermeulen and Heather McLeod will be climbing mountains in Asia, Africa and South America respectively in order to raise awareness and money.
Gural, a 36-year-old banker, said her first major climb was Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009 and she was able to raise $12,000 for MS research, $2,000 more than her goal of $10,000.
This time, she’s hoping to conquer Mount Everest’s base camp — and she’s doubled her goal.
“It was such a tremendous, fulfilling experience in my life,” Gural said. “This one I’m dedicating to the people of Edmonton living with MS.”
