Summer is a tough season for donations to the Ottawa Food Bank and other agencies, but the Delta Ottawa Hotel isn’t taking that lying down.
Yesterday, the hotel unveiled a bed made entirely of canned goods collected over the past four weeks that will be donated to the food bank.
“People just aren’t donating in July and August,” said Ottawa Food Bank executive director Peter Tilley. “Their minds turn to vacation … Any event we can have to get canned goods into the warehouse is fantastic.”
The Ottawa Food Bank delivered two tons of food to the Shepherds of Good Hope food kitchen after they sent out an urgent call for donations last Thursday.
