Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner get divorced for their 10th anniversary

Remember a month ago when sources were saying that Ben Affleck wanted his and Jennifer Garner’s divorce announcement to go out before their 10th anniversary on June 29? Well, they were certainly close. Turns out he really meant the day after, as the couple announced their intent to split up Tuesday, according to TMZ.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the statement reads. “We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private family matter. Thank you for understanding.” I certainly understand your love for numerical simplicity, I’ll grant you that. Married exactly 10 years and one day? That takes precision.

Of course, it’s not really, truly over yet. Sources say the amicable divorce will take months to sort through, what with all their assets and holdings and three kids and whatnot. TMZ reports that a mediator is working with their business managers to sort everything out, and the divorce will officially be filed once that’s done. So hold that thought.
