Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, co-founders of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, were arrested Monday after police busted a large demonstration on Capitol Hill.

Approximately 300 people were arrested as police in Washington, D.C., stopped a protest by a group called Democracy Awakening, USA Today reported. The Vermont ice cream entrepreneurs, Cohen and Greenfield, were among that group.

“The history of our country is that nothing happensuntil people start putting their bodies on the line and risk getting arrested,” Cohen said on the company’swebsite,

The protests were for campaign finance reform and voting rights, the Boston Globe reported, adding that actress Rosario Dawson was also arrested in a similar protest on Friday.

U.S. Capitol Policetold USA Today that those arrested were charged with crowding, obstructing and unlawful demonstration activity.

Those arrested were processed on the scene, according to USA Today, which added that police said 1,200 people have been arrested in the ongoing protests since April 11.
