True elegance requires subtlety and vision — luckily the model suite at The Benvenuto has both in spades.

The newly minted model unit at the luxury midtown Toronto development, located at St. Clair Avenue and Avenue Road, reveals how an intelligent mix of different artistic influences can result in a glamorous look that still shows tasteful restraint.

To create a sense of understated elegance and glamour in the 1,835 square foot model suite, designer Bryon Patton and his team combined modern elements with furniture and furnishings inspired by classic designs like Art Deco and neo-Victorian allure.

“The overall theming of the suite is eclectic, a mix of chic furnishings and art. In addition to being chic and sophisticated, this is a suite that shows comfort — you can enjoy the spaces,” Patton said.

Reflective surfaces are present throughout the space to add sparkle and the deliberate lack of blinds or window drapes in the main living area is meant to draw the eye outwards to the gorgeous view through a privacy-providing canopy of trees. The neutral colour choices of different tonal creams and browns also work to highlight the power of external beauty entering the space itself.

“Because the suite faces south and the rooms are flooded with light, we chose to use a richer colour scheme of chocolate, ebony and tan with accents of aqua and navy to reference the expanse of sky in the great view,” Patton said.

Just as important as the look of the suite is the feel, so Patton paid special attention to combining a wealth of luxurious textures throughout to give life to the space.

“I feel that texture is more important than colour so the emphasis is on the use of chenille, ultrasuede, velvet and silk — all beautifully tactile. Colours can be trendy and you can tire of a strong colour but you never tire of a beautiful texture,” Patton said.
