‘Blogologues’ brings Internet humor to life

For an affordable, lighthearted evening of comedy, check out
“Blogologues” at Under St. Marks in the East Village. Conveniently
located and affordably priced ($15 includes admission and a free beer),
this show presents the best of the Internet’s worst in a series of skits
stolen from your favorite websites and blogs.

Kicking off the six-month series, which primarily runs on the last
Monday of each month, “I Need A Vocation” focused on the theme of
employment
or lack thereof. Segments touched upon such topics as office etiquette,
pie charts, work affairs and the joys of being a career housewife.
Though the skits were acted out so as to
mine the depths of their humor by an ensemble of highly talented
comedians, one complaint might be that the material itself came from a
limited number of sources and dated as far back as 2007. Given the
gigantic scope of material available on any given topic on any given
week (especially if you’re seeking unemployment humor these days), more
topical and timely material would have given the show that extra oomph.
Each month brings a new topic; the Lively Productions team also accepts
suggestions for
future sources and themes.

Still, for the price and the caliber of comedy, it’s hard to go wrong.
The space itself is relaxed and fun: an unpretentious black box where
you can hit the restroom, stop by the bar and then grab some Cheetos from a bowl on
the ledge within ten paces of your seat. Plus, did we mention you get a
free beer?

You can choose from 7 p.m. or 9 p.m. performances; upcoming dates are:
