When it’s 100 degrees it’s easy to want to hide inside by the AC and O.D. on the iced tea. The summer heat can make us lazy and unproductive.

But just because it’s hot doesn’t mean we can shut down our lives, our jobs and our daily priorities. We must learn to coexist with the heat in order to keep life flowing. If you’re sick of moving slow and you’re ready to re-energize yourself this summer, follow these three steps.

Have an indoor BBQ

Once you get home from work and take a shower it may seem impossible to go back out into the heat. So instead of prancing about in your sweaty clothes, invite your friends over for an in-home BBQ. You can grill up some veggies on the stove, make a watermelon salad and offer some cucumber juice in the comfort of your own home.

Maintain a positive attitude

The summer heat can make everyone a little cranky. Instead of losing your cool every time you step outside the house, make a commitment to stay positive. Set yourself up to win each morning before you walk out the door by affirming that you intend to have a good day no matter what. Look in the mirror on the way out and say, “it’s going to be a good day.” This moment of positive intention will energize you from the onset of your day.

Find fun fitness routines

Getting to the gym is hard enough, but when it’s a sauna outside there’s just another excuse to stay home. The best way to get off your butt and into the gym is to find a new routine that inspires you. I found myself avoiding the gym at all costs until I got creative and started to pay attention to the classes that seemed interesting. I mustered up the energy to try pilates and now I’m hooked! Because I’m digging this new routine, I feel inspired to leave the house even if it’s sweltering outside.

If you want to get re-energized by a new fitness routine then join me on August 5th in Montauk for my full-day workshop. I’ll be leading a Kundalini yoga class followed by an intenSati aerobics workout with fitness guru Patricia Moreno and a healthy lunch from Byron restaurant. You can sign up at Gabbyb.tv/Speaking. Fun fitness is available everywhere.
