Labor Day is over and that means one thing for children and parents. The first day of school is right around the corner. Getting your kids ready for back-to-school is no easy feat. I have put together a #BTSLYSST of some of my must haves and things to do to get ready for the new school year.

The kids' hair cuts professionals
My boys head straight to Cozy Cuts For Kids on Third Avenue for their hair cuts. They have plenty of ways to keep kids entertained while getting their cuts, like video games and DVDs. Plus, they have a new hair line out called So Cozy so you can keep your children's hair looking FabULyss throughout the school year.
Where to do your shopping
Target is my favorite one-stop shop for all my kids' BTS needs. They have everything you'll need from school supplies to new clothes. I suggest taking one child at a time. Even though it requires more trips, it will make the process less overwhelming and your kid will feel really special getting your undivided attention.
The book series that will spark their creativity
I love reading books with my kids throughout the school year. One book series I'm really enjoying with my kids right now is the Mother's Art World series. It's a collection of books that introduces young children to the world of art. MY kids love the stories, characters and gorgeous illustrations.
Getting your kids to school
Many parents ask me if it is better for kids to walk or bike to school each day. I've found the perfect solution in the Micro Kickboard. My two boys are obsessed and cannot wait to scoot off to school in style. The Micro Kickboard helps teach kids balance and coordination as well as how to steer, speed up and slow down.
Now that summer has come to a close, kids and teachers have both had time to recharge their batteries and the excitement for the school year is in the air. When packing your child's lunch for the first day of school, I suggest sticking a little note in there. There's nothing like a sweet surprise from mom or dad on the first day of school!
