Blue Ivy saved James Corden’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ bit

What would be the point of inviting James Corden to host the Grammys — the American music industry’s biggest night, with all of its biggest unsuspecting stars in one very public setting — and not have him stage an impromptu “Carpool Karaoke”?

Wearing a makeshift vehicle made out of cardboard (rly Grammys?), Corden snagged the likes of John Legend, Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Jason Derulo and Ryan Tedder and coerced them into a rendition of “Sweet Caroline.” Why? Because Neil Diamond is here, so why not?

As it transpires — just a theory, though —the involved parties appeared less than stoked for this less-charming-more-painful rendition of the famed Ellen-Oscars selfie of 2014. And, just a theory, it’s probably because:

A. This is a song everyone hates.
B. No one really knows the words “Sweet Caroline.”
C. I hate this song.

Luckily, Blue Ivy was there to save everyone, as she does. Also, she reminded everyone the more important part of tonight: It’s about Beyonce. Calm yourself, James.
