Board to consider captivity on ballot

The Vancouver Park Board will be debating tonight whether to make the issue of whales in captivity a ballot question in next year’s election.

Some animal rights advocates say it’s inhumane to keep whales or dolphins in enclosed pools.

In an open letter to its supporters, the Aquarium said its mission is to “conserve aquatic life through display and interpretation, education, research and direct action.”
