Boston high school dean alleged to have shot teen execution-style

A 55-year-old high school dean, reverend and noted anti-gang activist was arraigned Thursday for trying to murder a 17-year-old male student over a marijuana dispute earlier this week.

Rev. Shaun Harrison, who was dean of students at Boston English High School before he was arrested this week, is alleged to have shot the teen on Magazine Street on Tuesday.

Harrison, sold marijuana and had enlisted the victim, who survived the shooting, to work him, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.

A dispute arose between the two and on Tuesday evening, according to the DA’s office, the two left Harrison’s Pompeii Street home when Harrison produced a handgun, pointed it at the back of the victim’s head and fired. Surveillance footage captured the incident. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and is expected to survive.

Thursday, Harrison was arraigned on charges of armed assault with intent to murder. He is being held on $250,000 bail and will return to court April 6.

Harrison, who ran for Boston City Council in 2009, used to run an anti-gang group called Operation Project GO, which tried to help troubled kids give up their guns.
