Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman will write a memoir of his experience that will be published near the first anniversary of the April attack.
Bauman, who lost both of his legs when one of the bombs near the finish line exploded next to him, will write a book called “Stronger” with co-writer Bret Witter, Grand Central Publishing announced Wednesday.
The book will not only chronicle Bauman’s experiences during the marathon, but also life since the attack that left him without his legs.
“The past months have often been difficult, but the support I’ve received from around the world, and especially from the people of Boston, has inspired me to set and achieve high goals. I hope sharing my story will inspire others in the same way, because together we are stronger,” Bauman said in a statement.
Bauman was waiting for his girlfriend to cross the finish line on April 15 when one of the bombs went off close to him. He became the face of the attack when a picture of him badly injured being wheeled away from the scene went viral.
He also helped investigators identify one of the men accused of carrying out the bombing because the suspect put down the explosive-loaded backpack next to him just before it went off.
Three people were killed and more than 260 other people were injured when the bombs went off.
