Boston Police Commissioner calls on community to help ID shooter

Boston Police looking for Southie gunmen

As 7-year-old Divan Silva recovers from a gunshot wound he sustained in the area of 296 Bowdoin Street in Dorchester, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans is pushing the community to step up and help identify the shooter.

“I hope anyone with information that could help this investigation feels an obligation to share that information,” Evans said on the BPD blog.

“The 7 year-old boy injured in this incident deserves as much. He didn’t do anything wrong. He was simply riding his bike to the store when the suspect in this case fired the shot that could’ve killed him. Our detectives are working around the clock to identify the individual responsible but we need the community’s help. If you have information, holding onto it only helps the suspect. Every little bit of information matters. And the person who shot Divan needs to be held unaccountable.”

BPD are aggressively searching for a suspect described as a black man between 14 and 18 years old, 5’8’’, heavy set who wore a red hoodie, white shorts and white shoes at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information relative to this incident is strongly asked to contact District C-11 detectives at (617) 343-4335
