Boston University police seek man allegedly stealing laptops from library

This is the suspect wanted in the BU library thefts.

Boston University police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man they believe is responsible for stealing multiple laptop computers from the school’s library in recent weeks.

BU police recently posted surveillance pictures of the man online. In each of the three thefts, the man was in and out of the Mugar Memorial Library in less than 10 minutes, police said.

The most recent theft took place Sunday just before 1 p.m. Police said the man took a laptop and a cellphone.

On Nov. 1, the man entered the library just after 7 p.m. and stole an unattended laptop, police said.

The first suspected robbery dates back to Sept. 30, when the man entered the library about 3:20 p.m. and stole an unattended backpack that contained a laptop.
