One person was killed and four were wounded in a spate of overnight shootings in Boston, the Boston Globe reported. All the victims were male.

Around 11:30 p.m., a 31-year-old man was fatally shot at 69 Astoria St., in Mattapan. A Boston police officer said the shooting appeared to be a “barbecue party gone awry.”

Police said they spoke to dozens of witnesses at the party.

The second victim was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, according to Boston EMS.

A second shooting occurred in Dorchester, at the intersection of Norfolk and Elizabeth streets. One person was found at the scene with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, two people were injured in a shooting at Ellington and Fowler streets, also in Dorchester. One victim was transported to Boston Medical Center; the other to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Boston police said none of the incidents appeared to be random.
