Results from the 2015 Boston Marathon:
Lelisa Desisa, of Ethopia, won the men's race with an unoffical time of 2:09:17.
Caroline Rotich, of Kenya, captured the women's division with an unofficial time of 2:24:55.
Local favorite Shalane Flanagan placed sixth.
"I'm just grateful to be here," Flanagan told WBZ-TV. "When we started climbing up the hill, my legs just didn't want to go.It was tough convincing myself to stay positive, I could feel those 20 mph winds. But it's just great to be a part of this event."
Tatyana McFadden successfully defendedher title in the women's wheelchair division, winning with a time of 1:52:54. It was McFadden's third win at Boston.
Marcel Hug, who finished in fourth place in the men's wheelchair event the past two years, broke through for the win. The Swiss racer won with a time of 1:29:53, nine minutes shy of the course record.
