Boston police are imploring the public to pass on any information about the shooting of a 9-year-old girl in a playground early Sunday morning.
The child is said to have been with a group of people in the Roxbury playground on Annunciation Road at about 1 a.m. when she was hit by gunfire.
“We need your help on this one,” Boston Police Chief William Gross said. “There’s too many guns on the street. Time for everyone to pull together and help us solve this one.”

Police said that the girl was alert and speaking when she was being transported to the hospital for surgery, and she is expected to survive the gunshot wounds.
From where and by whom the gun shots came remained unknown as of Sunday afternoon.
