Berklee College of Music faculty, students and alumni teamed up with the Carter Center to produce “Love is the Answer,” a peace-promoting song written by Florida minister Breeze the Voice. The song’s video features imagery of former president Jimmy Carter and human rights activists like Fatima Kadhim Al-Bahadly and Wai Wai Nu, inter-spliced with footage of performers recording the track.

Organizer and alumna Karin Ryan says, “Promoting human rights comes down to creative storytelling. I wanted to make better use of the arts in telling the story of the human rights struggle.” Ryan is Senior Advisor to the Human Rights Program at the Carter Center and put the wheels in motion following her idea’s 2014 conception.

The video premiered at today’s Human Rights Defenders Forum in Atlanta alongside former president Carter’s keynote speech, “A Time for Peace.”
