Bodio Hutchinson, a 34-year-old Boston homeless man, was held on $1 million bail Tuesday at his arraignment in Suffolk Superior Court in connection with a startling attack on two park rangers.

Hutchinson’s arraignment followed a Nov. 24 indictment charging him with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and single counts of assault and battery and aggravated assault and battery.

He is accused of stabbing two park rangers in broad day light during an Oct. 14 encounter on Boston Common. One ranger, a 46-year-old man, suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in his abdomen and slashed on his back. The other, age 25, suffered five stab wounds to his back and abdomen. Both rangers recovered.

Hutchinston’s defense attorney has said his client suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and “struggles every day to know what’s his reality.”

Hutchinson was ordered to return to court on Jan. 6.
