Thousands of Bostonians came out to celebrate the annual holiday tradition.

Thousands of Bostonians gathered at Boston Common for the 75th Annual Tree Lighting.

The tradition is held in honor of Boston's efforts to help Halifax in the wake of the devastating explosion that occurred there in 1917.

Legendary Boston groupBell Biv Devoe, the cast from Broadway's"The King and I," local pop group "3D," and others performed during the festivities.

Mayor Marty Walsh was front and center to enjoy all of the holiday performances. He later took to the stage to participate in the lighting of the tree.
