Boston man charged with killing one and seriously injuring another
Aaron Almeida was arraigned in Roxbury on Monday for the death of Ailton Goncalves.
A Hyde Park man has been held without bail in connection with the recent shooting death of 35-year-old Ailton Goncalves.
Aaron Almeida, 22, was charged on Mondayin Roxbury Municipal Courtwith murder, armed assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
A search on Sunday uncovered clothing identical to the gunman’s and two guns in places where Almeida frequents, the Suffolk District Attorney’s office said.
On Aug. 20, Goncalves was hanging out with friends on Dudley Terrace, “minding his own business,” Assistant District Attorney Amy Galatis of the DA’s Homicide Unit said. Surveillance footage shows Almeida following Goncalves before allegedly firing his gun, hitting Goncalves and a woman in her 30s several times.
Goncalves died and the woman is hospitalized with serious and possibly life-altering injuries, the Suffolk D.A. said.
Almeida is due back in court on Oct. 5.
