Boston woman dragged by friend’s car, dies

Boston police officer charged for stealing money from evidence room

A 29-year-old woman has died from injuries after she was dragged by a car through the streets of Boston.

Cusandra Webb of Dorchester was dragged more than a third of a mile down Massachusetts Avenue just before 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Webb and the driver of the car, Brianna Smith, 26, of Boston knew each other, police said. Webb was injured when she tried to get back in the car as Smith, who police said was drunk,drove off.

Police found Webb at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Pompeii Street suffering from life-threateninginjuries.

Webb was transported to Boston Medical Center where she later died.

Smith was charged with assault andbattery with a dangerous weapon and operating under the influence of alcohol.
