Free agent forward David Backes is headed to the Bruins, according to multiple reports. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet Canada, the deal is worth $30 million over five years.
The Backes news broke around the same time that it was learned that forward Loui Eriksson was leaving the Bruins in favor of the Vancouver Canucks. The winger got a six-year deal with Vancouver, according to Nick Kypreos.
Eriksson registered 147 points in 224 games played while in Boston.
