Cambridge cops seek would-be bank robber

Cambridge Police are trying to identify a man who allegedly tried to rob a bank in Central Square on Oct. 27.

Police are looking for a man in his 50’s who may have forgotten his mask, but had a black vest and khakis on. The suspect walked into the bank and said to a Leader Bank employee, “Don’t be stupid. This is a robbery,” according to police.

He is said to have mentioned a gun and had a crumpled piece of paper in his gloved hand, police said.

The bank employee told police that the man got nervous when another employee came too close. He then bolted out of the bank without any money.

Police released his image on Monday.

Anyone with information on the man in question should call 617-349-9303.
