A Cape Cod teen collapsed and died while playing basketball at a community center Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old male, whose name has not been released to the public, was playing basketball at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center when he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest sometime before 8 p.m., Barnstable Police Sgt. Michael Riley told the Metro.
Police arrived at the scene around 7:50 p.m. Emergency personnel performed CPR and used a defibrillator to try to revive the teen, said Riley. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 p.m.
The death is currently under investigation and an autopsy will be performed, said Riley.
