A Chelsea woman told police she was beaten up and robbed by several men over the weekend in Chelsea, but now police say she made it all up, WHDH reports.

The woman, 25-year-old Denissa Perez, is now facing charges of misleading police during an investigation.

How did she get caught? It was just a matter of the evidence not making much sense.

Perez’s original story was that she was slashed, kicked, punched and robbed by three men near Central Avenue and the Lynn Street Extension on Sunday around 9:30 p.m.

However, after investigating, officers concluded that never happened.

“Instead, police say several men had been involved in a fight inside an undisclosed address and that Perez suffered injuries as she tried to break up the brawl,” WHDH reports. “Police say Perez’s reported injuries came from a broken bottle. She also had several other bruises and scrapes.”

Perez is due in court later this month where she may face additional charges.
