Custom leather goods company deWolfe pops up on Newbury

With a rucksack worthy of Katniss Everdeen, deWolfe Leather Goods has arrived on Newbury Street. The handmade-leather-goods company, founded by School of Fashion Design grad Gina DeWolfe — and previously spotted at December Thieves and the SoWa Open Market — popped up last month. Now shoppers can try on her backpacks, jewelry and accessories in the flesh.

The designer, known for using local materials and minimalist designs, uses leather smith tools handed down from her grandfather to craft each piece. Items range from her signature Wolfepack backpack, with gunmetal clasps and wax-thread stitching, to the Billie wrap bracelets, which feature custom embossing hammered in by Wolfe herself. The pop-up lives at 177 Newbury St. through winter, and will eventually offer workshops and partnerships with other local makers in the coming months.
