A teen was arrested on Friday night in Dorchester and one less gun is on the streets, according to Boston Police Department.

The 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, was arrested on gun and drug charges.

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force saw the teen “walking with his hood up and looking in all directions with his head on a swivel” in the area of Moultrie Street after 9:30 p.m., BPD said.

BPD said the minor became “increasingly nervous” as he chatted with the officers in the cruiser.

While being patted down, the teen put his hand inside of his pocket. As an officer intervened, he felt the firearm the teen was allegedly gripping.

The officers seized a loaded black Tanfoglio Giuseppe .32 caliber handgun as well as seven small plastic bags of what police said they believe is marijuana.

The youth was arrested on firearms and drug charges.
