Five thousand Jack O' Lanterns live here (PHOTOS)

Eerie, extravagant and impressive.

If you need a break from the Halloweenscream/boozefestthis weekend —take a stroll down to SeaportBoulevardwhere some 5,000 intricately carved pumpkinswill be illuminated on display as part of RISE of the Jack O' Lanterns. The four day, family-friendly event will take over the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center withthousandsof real pumpkins (and larger-than-life, pumpkin-made structures)that have been hand-carved and manipulated to portray pop culture, fantasy and themacabre. Guests are invited to explore the indoorpath while a musical score plays.

RISE — which hosts sister productions in New York, New Jersey and California — and works with more than150 artists on both coasts to make the magic happen— is making its Boston debut this year, a feat that executive producer MikePollockdeems not so easy. “It's been a long tough road to make this work over the past five years," he says. "I'm lucky to have found great people to work with."
